Efficient drone solutions for Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR)

Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR)

In Maritime Search and Rescue, the first and most critical task in any search and rescue operation at sea, is to locate the people in need. In traditional searches, ships navigate designated sectors at sea, while the crew scans the sea surface with binoculars from the ship’s deck. This is a prolonged task, which is both challenging and monotonous for the crew. We offer a solution that automates the critical search process by the use of autonomous drones that scan the sea surface with cameras and analyze images using artificial intelligence.
Step 1 – Select and position of the search pattern
The first step is to define the search area. The system provides a map application which enables you to simply select, position and modify any of the IMO IAMSAR search patterns directly on the map, to cover the designated search area.
Step 2 – Select the number of drones to deploy
The second step is to select the number of drones you wish to deploy simultaneously to cover the defined search area. The more drones you deploy, the faster you will be able to cover the search area and locate the people in distress.
Step 3 – Launch the drones
The third and final step is to launch the drones. It is easy. Just press the launch button on the application interface, and the drones will deploy and initiate their individual search task.

Instant benefits

Increased chance of finding people
The UAV’s elevated position above the sea surface greatly improves the overview of the sea surface – compared to the overview from a ships deck.
Reduced search time
With multiple drones searching different sections of the search area independent and simultaneous, the overall search time is significantly reduced.
Less strain on the crew
Detection of objects of interest is handled by technology. The crews role is reduced to validation of the detected objects.
